The 9.2(3) firmware image within the installation program supports the Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP) for the following Cisco Unified IP Phones :

Note: 7906G isnot supported on 4.0, 5.0(1) and 5.0(2) Cisco Unified Call Manager releases.

Image Authentication Support

Cisco providesimage authentication with its various IP phone protocols. Imageauthentication allows the phone to detect if the image has been tampered withbefore it is programmed into the phone. If the image fails the authenticationprocess then the phone will reject the image. Image authentication occursthrough signed files. All Cisco Unified IP Phone 7911G and 7906G loads are signedand can only be upgraded or downgraded to other signed releases.

The 9.2(3)firmware uses signed (authenticated) files. This step improves IP phonesecurity on the Cisco Unified IP Phone 7911Gand 7906G.

Installing the Firmware Load

Before using the CiscoUnified IP Phone 7911G and 7906Gwith Cisco Unified CallManager release 3.3 or later,you must install the latest firmware on all Cisco Unified CallManagerservers in the cluster.

Note: If youhave a Cisco Unified CallManager on Release 3.0, 3.1,or 3.2, do NOT install this firmware. You must firstupgrade your Cisco Unified CallManager to thecompatible releases listed in Table 1 or Table2.

The 8.0(1)firmware release has been made available on Cisco Unified CallManagerinstallation CDs; however, it will not be made available on Cisco.com due toadditional bugs filed during final testing. Cisco recommends that you insteaduse the updated 9.2(3) firmware load, which is now available on Cisco.com. Thisrecommendation is limited to this specific firmware release and has no bearingon any other software or firmware available on Cisco Unified CallManager CDs.

The 9.2(3) installationprograms for the Cisco Unified IP Phone 7911G and 7906 G are listed below.

Note: For the Cisco UnifiedIP phone 7911G and 7906G,you should not add the .loads extension to the firmware versionname in the Cisco Unified CallManager database.

Cisco Cp-7911 Sip Firmware

Note: 7906G issupport requires Cisco Unified Call Manager release 5.0(3) or later.

Please note that different versions of the installer are neededfor different Cisco Unified CallManagerreleases. Cisco Unified CallManager releasesearlier than 5.0 are based on a windows server platform. For Cicso Unified CallManager release5.0 and later are based on a Linux server platform.

When using Cisco Unified CallManagerRelease 5.0 or later

For Cisco Unified CallManager5.0, you must do all software installations and upgrades by using the SoftwareUpgrades menu options. The system can upload and process only software thatCisco approved. You cannot install or use third-party or Windows-basedsoftware applications that you may have been using with a previous version ofCisco Unified CallManager with Cisco Unified CallManager 5.0.

  1. Using your web browser, login to the Cisco IPT Platform Administration web page
  2. Under the Software Upgrades menu, select Install/Upgrade.
  3. Fill in the appropriate values in the Software Location section for the file you downloaded above, and click Next.
  4. In the Available Software drop-down box, select the file you downloaded above, and click Next.
  5. Enusre that the downloaded file has the same MD5 hash value as listed in Table 3.
  6. Click Next.
  7. In the Warning box, verify you have selected the correct firmware, then click Install.
  8. Ensure that you received a Success message.

When Using Cisco Unified CallManagerearlier than Release 5.0

  1. Login to the console of the Cisco Unified CallManager Server where you downloaded the installer.
  2. Note the location where you saved the downloaded file.
  3. Double-click the file to start the installation.
  4. In the Welcome window, click Next.
  5. In the License Agreement window, click Yes.
  6. If a Read Only File Detected window pops up, click Yes.
  7. After the installation finishes, click OK.
  8. Reset all corresponding devices.

Cisco Unified IP Phone Model 7911Gand 7906G Alternate Firmware format

The Cisco Unified IP Phone Model 7911Gand 7906G Firmware version 9.2(3) is also supplied ina zip file, as an alternative in case a Cisco Unified CallManageris not available to run the executable installer program. The name of this fileis cmterm-7911_7906-sccp.9-2-3.zip.

After unzipping the firmware files, they should be manuallycopied to the appropriate directory on the TFTPserver.
